Trauma can affect you long after an experience has ended. You may feel constantly on edge, overwhelmed, disconnected, anxious, or find yourself reliving difficult experiences through intrusive thoughts, nightmares or strong emotional reactions. Sometimes trauma shows up in less obvious ways too — through overthinking, people-pleasing, avoidance, difficulty trusting others, emotional numbness or feeling as though you always need to be prepared for something to go wrong.
I offer online trauma counselling for adults across the UK, providing a calm and confidential space to help you understand what is happening and begin rebuilding a sense of safety.
Trauma therapy does not have to begin with describing everything that happened to you in detail. Much of our early work may focus instead on understanding how trauma affects you now — your thoughts, emotions, relationships, body and nervous system responses — and helping you develop ways to feel more grounded and in control.
We cannot change our past and trauma therapy is not about erasing what happened. It is about helping the past have less power over your life in the here and now.
Trauma is an important part of my professional training and counselling practice, but it is also something I understand personally.
My journey into counselling began after I developed PTSD following a serious car accident. Finding the right support and rebuilding my own sense of safety eventually inspired me to retrain as a counsellor.
My experience is not the same as yours, but it means my understanding of trauma comes from both professional training and lived experience.
Sessions take place over Zoom or WhatsApp.
For some people, working from their own familiar environment can feel particularly helpful when exploring trauma. It removes the stress of travelling to appointments and allows you to have therapy somewhere you already feel comfortable. You can also have familiar things around you that help you feel grounded and give yourself some quiet time after the session.
You do not need to have a diagnosis of PTSD to come to trauma counselling. Sometimes people are not even sure whether the word "trauma" applies to what they have experienced. We can explore that together.
I offer a free 30-minute initial consultation so we can talk about what has brought you to counselling, what you would like help with and whether working together feels right for you.
